Oh, I like your interpretation of the pairing. As well, I can also see Midguideshipping. Ryuuji is a macho, but Rebecca wants to be not just a girlfriend of many. I think initially, they are not a couple and they are rather go out of the way and much arguing. But perhaps they then gradually realize that the other is exactly their type.
It is a pity that the couple gets so little attention. Well done. :)
